Empowering women in South Devon: The awesome Freelance Mum network

Community, confidence and new clients: The benefits of our women's networking events in South Devon.

Community, confidence and new clients: The benefits of our women’s networking events in South Devon and across the UK empower freelance mums like you to grow successful businesses and find financial freedom. Here’s how:

More than a sense of community

We don’t just feel like a community, we are a community, both in the nationwide Freelance Mum network and in our local hubs. There’s something inspiring about regularly getting together with women who share a mindset and a goal: to support each other in growing successful businesses that give us the freedom to be the mums we want to be.

The South Devon Hub, like all our physical hubs, is a community in itself but also connects members with the wider local community. South Devon FMs live and work in the local area, so there’s always someone who knows someone—if you need expertise beyond the Freelance Mum community, or just need to get the word out about your latest offering, hub members will work their local magic.

Confidence empowers

Having a networking community of like-minded women who support, advise and promote each other is key to finding the confidence to market yourself and your business. Self-promotion is often one of the things women in business find most difficult, so having a team behind you to tell you how valuable you are is hugely empowering.

The Freelance Mum Hubs are a safe space to practise promoting your business, explore ideas for growth, troubleshoot, and build your confidence.

Connecting with new clients

We are more likely to work with people we’ve met in person, or who were recommended by someone we’ve met in person, than with people who find us online.

Meeting people face-to-face, especially in an environment where you can relax and be authentic, builds strong connections, trust, and connects you with ideal clients who will remember you. That chat with another mum on a netwalk about why you love being a graphic designer could lead to ideas for a new package, or a referral to a new client—the familiarity, the sense of trust, is already there.

What’s on at the South Devon Hub?

Our signature netwalks happen at hubs across the Southwest. Thanks to our awesome Freelance Mum Fairies, they have a reliably high feel-good factor and give members oodles of value. And the South Devon netwalk is no exception: fresh air, like-minded people and the chance to build your network, with or without your children.

The South Devon netwalk magic happens at the beautiful Dartington Estate. The group meet at The Dartington Estate Welcome Centre to head off on their walk, then finish with refreshments in one of the lovely cafes on the Estate.

The South Devon Hub meet once a month on Thursdays, 10 AM-11.30 AM except in August. Children are welcome and we walk at the pace of the slowest member. All netwalk routes are push-chair friendly.

They also host member-led events such as Coffee & Content and all members have access to Freelance Mum whole-network events.

Freelance Mum is about more than finding new business. It’s a safe space to give and get support, offload, feel a sense of belonging and raise each other up.
