This Is What Community Feels Like: Reflecting on the Freelance Mum Mega Meet Up

There are some events that stay with you — not because of the fancy agenda or perfect planning (though we do love a good schedule), but because of the people, the connections, the energy. The Freelance Mum Mega Meet Up was one of those events.

Held at the beautiful Tractors & Cream Glamping site — home of our Somerset hub — the Mega Meet Up brought together Freelance Mums from across the UK. It was everything our regular Netwalks are known for: movement, meaningful conversation, bring your kids if you want to –  only this time, it was MEGA.

There was the familiar rhythm of the day — the icebreaker, the joy of walking and talking, and not to mention lots of love and laughter. But the real magic happened in the in-between moments: chats under the rainbow umbrellas, children dashing across the grass, new friendships forming, and old ones deepening.

Because that’s what Freelance Mum is. It’s your business family.

A place where mums in businesswomen in business — can connect, collaborate and grow, while being fully themselves. It’s not about separating the personal from the professional, but about showing up as whole people, juggling summer holiday plans with pitch deadlines, conjuring up Roman costumes in between client calls.

As, Sarah Newland of Keyboard Smash, beautifully put it:

“It is not just a group of mums who happen to be running their own businesses. It is a group of business women who also happen to be mums.”

This year’s Mega Meet Up also gave us the perfect moment to share our latest Impact Report — something we’re incredibly proud of. Behind all the colour and connection lies something very real: Freelance Mum is working.

93.5% of our members say they feel part of a community
80% feel more joyful about their business
76% say they feel less alone

And that matters. Because joy isn’t a luxury — it’s a lifeline. It helps us make better decisions, weather hard days, and stay resilient. It’s why we do what we do: to build spaces where mums in business can thrive.

We were honoured to hear from two inspiring women on the day:

Kaitlyn Cook, of Kaitlyn Cook Coaching, brought a powerful blend of mindset and money wisdom — “a touch of woo, a dollop of energy and practical advice” that had us all thinking differently about how we value ourselves and our work.
Jenna from Little Dreams Consulting shared her journey of letting go of her childhood dream of being a solicitor and creating a thriving franchise model — proof that there’s no one way to do business as a woman or as a mother.

And, of course, there were sparkles (literally — thanks to jojosfacepaintingbristol), cartwheels (turns out we have more acrobats in our community than we knew), plus reels and photography from Adele to capture the vibe — because what’s a Mega Meet Up without a bit of shared silliness?

As Kaitlyn shared after the day:

“So full of invigorating energy, positivity, inspiration and community… such a privilege being a part of this epic day.”

We couldn’t agree more.

Thank you to everyone who made this day so special — from the speakers and team behind the scenes, to the Freelance Mum Fairies who keep our hubs thriving all year. And thank you to every mum and woman in business who came along and brought their energy, connected and came together.

We’ll be doing it all again — the MEGA way.
