A networking success story: Launching FM Joy in Swansea

If ever there was a networking success story it’s that of Stacey Bramhall. Stacey and Faye’s story began 20 years ago when Stacey gave Faye a lift to a mutual friend’s wedding. Their paths have continued to cross ever since.

Stacey’s background is in PR, but in 2003 she co-founded Butlers in the Buff. While the company thrived, Stacey craved female company. So, when Faye launched Freelance Mum, Stacey was there in a shot. At the early Freelance Mum networking events, with her little boy in tow, Stacey found like-minded women who really got it.

“When I’ve felt isolated, down in the dumps about work, or just in need of a pick-me-up, Freelance Mum has always been there”.

When the time came to move on from Butlers in the Buff, Stacey found herself at a crossroads with what to do next. So, with a few ideas in her back pocket, she went along to Freelance Mum and got chatting with Faye and other FMs. Those conversations took Stacey back to her roots, and she began doing PR for Freelance Mum which led to her launching her PR agency, Impress PR.

Since then, through Freelance Mum word-of-mouth and recommendations, Stacey has found multiple new clients and worked collaboratively on various projects with other Freelance Mum members.

“I wanted to take Freelance Mum with me and expand that amazing community into Wales”.

When Stacey and her family decided to move to South Wales, Stacey felt compelled to take the Freelance Mum joy with her. And thus, the Freelance Mum Swansea Hub was born!

Freelance Mum has local hubs across the Southwest that meet once a month for a netwalk and a cuppa. FM netwalks are a chance to network and connect with other mums in business. The hubs are hosted by local member leaders, known as our Freelance Mum Fairies, who lead the netwalks and help grow the Freelance Mum community in their area.

With nothing quite like that in Swansea, Faye was delighted to expand into Mumbles and appoint Stacey, along with local mumbles PT and fitness coach Ella Slee of Functional Fitness, as the Swansea Hub Freelance Mum Fairies. Ella is a mum, a business owner, and like Stacey and Faye, an inspiration to other mums in business.

Stacey and Ella have been spreading the word and building a community ahead of the launch of the Freelance Mum Swansea Hub on Thursday 6th March 2025. If you’re a freelancer or a mum in business looking for women’s networking in Swansea, Mumbles, Gower and surrounding areas, you’ve just found your people!
