Have you got a business idea buzzing around in your head that you want to bring to life? Are you a freelancer in need of a network of like-minded people to give you and your business a boost? Look no further—here are our top five reasons to join our awesome business networking group for women in Southampton.
- Netwalking is better than networking (at least, we think so)
As women in business, we know that building a strong network can make or break your business (and you!) We also know that mums in business are nearly always trying to do several things at once and may well have a child or two in tow.
Introducing: Netwalking! At our signature Freelance Mum Netwalks, you can build connections, get support, get some fresh air, and comfortably bring your children along, too.
The Southampton Hub meet for its netwalk in Itchen Valley Country Park, just off the M27 between Winchester and Southampton.
- Led by freelance mums, for freelance mums
Freelance Mum founder, Faye Dicker, started the netwalk events and Freelance Mum community hubs because she saw a need for face-to-face connections for mums in business who are struggling with the juggle. A firm believer in harnessing the power of fresh air and nature, Faye decided to take networking outside.
With a growing number of Freelance Mum Hubs across the Southwest, the hubs and netwalks are led by women who get the challenges of being a mum and running a business and understand the importance of work-life balance that we all strive for. We call them our Freelance Fairies—they will welcome regular FMs and those on their 30-day trial with a smile, a helping hand, and a cuppa.
- Itchen Valley Country Park is awesome
With push-chair friendly trails, on-site parking, a café and plenty of open space and woodland to enjoy, Itchen Valley Country Park is a fantastic place to visit, with or without your children. Meeting like-minded mums in business and growing your network while you’re there is an added bonus. Itchen Valley also has outdoor and indoor play areas.
- Connections in Southampton and beyond
In our first 10 years, Freelance Mum supported over 1000 mums in business and created over 50,000 business interactions between members.
The Southampton Hub attracts members from Southampton, Portsmouth, Winchester and beyond. You’ll also be able to join our whole-network events, including the weekly Freelance Mum Online Coffee Mornings, and access to The Mothership, our buzzing Facebook community.

- Strong relationships
Building strong, trusting, lasting relationships is at the heart of networking with Freelance Mum. Having a safe, relaxed space to do this makes those relationships all the more meaningful, and will increase your motivation, your confidence, and help you grow your business. Building a network of people who can support you is essential to success in any business. We are far stronger together.
Freelance Mum is about more than finding new business. It’s a safe space to give and get support, offload, feel a sense of belonging and raise each other up.
