You know you have a brilliant business. But do you know how to turn what you do into a story the media actually wants to hear?

And if your local BBC station called tomorrow and said, “Can you come on air at 8am?” would you know what to say?

We’re running a practical, hands-on PR and Media Training course designed specifically for busy small business owners and freelancers.

Led by Stacey Bramhall of ImPRess PR, BBC broadcaster Laura Rawlings and broadcaster, voiceover artist and Freelance Mum founder Faye Dicker, this is your chance to stop wondering how people get themselves, their businesses and their stories into the media and learn how to actually do it.

We’ll help you uncover the stories sitting inside your business, understand what journalists are looking for and give you the confidence to pitch yourself without feeling horribly “salesy”.

Then we’ll put you through your paces!

You’ll learn how to prepare for radio and TV interviews, get your key messages across clearly and confidently, handle the questions you weren’t expecting and practise being interviewed in a supportive environment.

This isn’t about becoming a PR expert.

It’s about becoming PR ready and media confident.

You’ll leave with:

* a clearer idea of what makes your business newsworthy
* your own story angles to take to the media
* practical advice on approaching journalists
* a better understanding of press releases and pitches
* clear key messages for your business
* practical radio and TV interview techniques
* experience answering questions under pressure
* more confidence to say YES when a media opportunity comes your way

Because getting the opportunity is only half the job.

You need to know what to do when you get it.

Ready to get seen, get heard and tell your story?

Stacey Bramhall, founder of ImPRess PR, has over 20 years’ experience in PR and running her own businesses. She’ll explain what PR actually is (and why it matters), how to spot a strong press angle and the all-important 5 Ws. She’ll also share practical tips on writing a press release and approaching local radio and TV with your story.

Faye Dicker, broadcaster, voiceover artist and founder of Freelance Mum, will take you into the world of the interview itself. From understanding the different types of press and interviews, to knowing how to prepare, stay on message and deliver a good interview when the mic goes live.

Laura Rawlings, BBC broadcaster, small business owner and hypnotherapist, will help you uncover the story behind your business, bringing a journalist’s eye to finding the human interest and your ‘why’. She’ll also share techniques for managing those inevitable nerves and communicating your message clearly.

Whether you’ve got a story you’d love to get into the press, want to raise the profile of your business, or the thought of being interviewed fills you with dread, this session will give you practical, realistic tools you can use in your own business – without needing heaps of time, a huge budget or an entire PR department behind you.

What to expect

The session will include interview practise, with media professionals – please make sure you complete the form, when registering for the event, as the session will be tailored to the businesses on the day.

Please note, this session is open to all freelancers and small businesses owners, as well as the Freelance Mum community.

There is a booking fee for both ticket types and a discount for FM members.
