Lunch & Learn – Media Training
Ever wondered how to get your business featured in the press – or what on earth to say if a journalist actually wants to interview you?
For this special Lunch & Learn, we’re bringing together three women with years of experience across PR, journalism, broadcasting and running their own businesses, to take you behind the scenes of the media and show you how to find your story, get it noticed and tell it with confidence.
Designed specifically with mums in small businesses in mind, we’ll look at how you can make PR work for you when time and resources are often limited. You don’t need a big marketing budget or a PR team behind you – sometimes the most powerful thing you have is your own story and knowing how to tell it.
Stacey Bramhall, founder of ImPRess PR, has over 20 years’ experience in PR and running her own businesses. She’ll explain what PR actually is (and why it matters), how to spot a strong press angle and the all-important 5 Ws. She’ll also share practical tips on writing a press release and approaching local radio and TV with your story.
Faye Dicker, broadcaster, voiceover artist and founder of Freelance Mum, will take you into the world of the interview itself. From understanding the different types of press and interviews, to knowing how to prepare, stay on message and deliver a good interview when the mic goes live.
Laura Rawlings, BBC broadcaster, small business owner and hypnotherapist, will help you uncover the story behind your business, bringing a journalist’s eye to finding the human interest and your ‘why’. She’ll also share techniques for managing those inevitable nerves and communicating your message clearly.
Whether you’ve got a story you’d love to get into the press, want to raise the profile of your business, or the thought of being interviewed fills you with dread, this session will give you practical, realistic tools you can use in your own business – without needing heaps of time, a huge budget or an entire PR department behind you.
